Woburn Honor Roll

About

Woburn, MA

2012

This 52-foot-long total stone memorial was dedicated on Veterans Day 2012. It is made of 31 monolithic blocks of granite weighing over 35 tons. The names of over 12,000 veterans from Woburn, spanning Colonial times to the present day, are laser-etched into the polished, black granite. Images that reflect the history of these conflicts are etched within the fields of names. It is dramatically lit at night with a bank of LED spotlights. As a constant tribute to those who served, it is fittingly located at the central town common. Memorial services are held here annually. The granite and laser-etching was fabricated in Barre, Vermont by Buttura & Gherardi Granite Artisans.
