George Washington Monumental Portrait Relief

This heroic-sized bronze relief was designed and completed in 1994. It is located above the entry door at the Washington Monument in Washington, D.C. Thirteen oak leaves, a symbol of strength, and George Washington’s signature are incorporated within the design. Robert Shure and Skylight Studios received the Federal Design Achievement Award for this sculpture and for the ornamentation in the Lobby of the monument.
