Hamilton was an American scientist and physician who focused on occupational health. She was also a humanitarian and activist. In 1919 Hamilton became the first woman to be appointed to the faculty of Harvard University. Robert describes his process, saying, “I chose to depict her likeness in the prime of her life and with a soft smile, and wanted to show her strength, intelligence, and steadfastness. My intention is that viewers will learn of her story and become inspired to follow in her footsteps by doing good for others.” We collaborated with Honorcraft of South Easton, MA on this project.
